⚠ COVID-19 Level 5 Restrictions -An Bord Pleanála Remains Open as Normal ⚠
The Government List of Essential Services (as published by the Department of the Taoiseach on the 14th October, 2020 and last updated on the 20th October, 2020) under paragraph (x) of Section 14 Headed "Public administration, emergency services and defence" lists "specific statutory planning system activities, to the extent that they cannot be carried out remotely" as an essential services. An Bord Pleanála would come under this category.
Furthermore, Regulation 5(2)(y) of the Health Act 1947 (Section 31A – Temporary Restrictions) (Covid-19) (No. 8) Regulations 2020 provides that attendance at the offices of An Bord Pleanála to engage in a statutory planning process including making an appeal or observation or submission or inspecting a file constitutes a reasonable excuse for travelling in the context of Level 5 restrictions being in place. Part 2 of these Regulations also incorporates the Government List of Essential Services. These Regulations came into operation on the 22nd October, 2020.
Having regard to these central Government decisions the offices of An Bord Pleanála will remain open to the public as per its existing normal public hours of 9.15 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (other than public holidays).
An Bord Pleanála's public reception area will continue to operate in full alignment with public health advice and guidelines arising from the Covid-19 pandemic and visitors are requested to adhere to those requirements when visiting the offices in person.

21/20/2020 - An Bord Pleanála is open during Level 5 restrictions
An Bord Pleanála remains fully open to the public during the Level 5 restrictions. Our office is open Monday to Friday from 9.15am to 5.30pm. Please note that there is no time period freeze relating to planning system deadlines.
